Jeweller shot by robbers

KUALA LUMPUR: Prominent jeweller, Abdul Rasull Abdul Razak, was shot this morning by several unknown men who tried to rob his jewellery store in Lebuh Ampang, here.

According to his staff, four men on two motorcycles arrived at the shop at about 9:30am, with two entering the shop to rob the place.

“But they were unsuccessful as there were too many people. My boss, Abdul Rasull managed to chase them out of the store but when he went outside, the other two men waiting there fired about six shots at him,” said the staff, who declined to be named.

It is learnt that two shots hit Abdull Rasull on his shoulder and stomach.

The businessman has been rushed to the Kuala Lumpur general hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur deputy CID chief Khairi Ahrasa said all the four men were suspected to be Indians aged between 20 and 30 years.

“Police will investigate motive of the incident but at the moment we have classified this case at attempted robbery,” he told reporters at the scene.

The incident took place around 9.30 this morning while four staff of the store were arranging jewellery trays. They were shocked when two men walked into the store with one of them jumping over the counter.

Realising this Abdul Rasull rushed out of his office to apprehend the suspect. But realising this the suspects fled out of the store pursued by Abdul Rasull.

As he ran after the robbers, two others who were waiting in motorbikes opened fire hitting Abdul Rasull on the shoulders and stomach.

Khairi said all the four gunmen were using black colour full face helmets and jackets.

“We would start our investigations by checking the CCTVs cameras around the shop and nearby,” he said, adding that eyewitness will also be interviewed.
